A new moon gong of pure titanium that sounds far bigger than it is: at 77 cm across without the rim, it unfolds deep bass and a wealth of overtones that its construction makes truly overwhelming. It responds effortlessly to 70 and 80 mm friction mallets, and to smaller ones too. At just 4.5 kg it is a real lightweight — half the weight of a bronze or nickel-silver gong of the same size, and ideal for anyone who takes their gong on the road.

This gong grew over weeks out of four celestial events. The journey began at the new moon in July; it was energised in the light of the July full moon, at a place in nature where no light but moonlight falls. During the solar eclipse it lay in water and was carried into the forest. It was fired in the night of 28 August 2026 — exactly at the full moon, during the lunar eclipse. No other gong has yet received this variety of energy. The sustain carries for minutes and the frequency spectrum runs evenly from 40 to 1000 Hz. Made out of stillness, not out of mass production — strength lies in stillness.

This gong was fired and finished at the full moon of 29 July. It is hand-made from high-purity titanium and tuned between 105 Hz, 108 Hz, 111 Hz, 114 Hz and 117 Hz — a 3 Hz octaving.

I developed this series of gongs in 2025: hand-forged from pure titanium, made at the full moon in the Black Forest — 96 cm without the rim, 2.5 mm thick, with a nanometre-precise engraving of the Flower of Life. The special forging technique deliberately creates a sustain that is exceptionally long for this size — up to 7 minutes; it is most powerful to experience standing right in front of the gong. It works energetically on water and sound: titanium has a hexagonal structure, and at the centre of the gong water can be energised with the Flower of Life.
